Sales Training Program and Courses Available
A wintertime blog about a sales training program
It’s a wonderful time of year. We’ve left the chaos of 2024 behind and are stepping into a new era of success in 2025 working towards ambitious goals. Until you sober up from the Christmas and New Year’s drinking onslaught and realise you’ve actually got to achieve the targets that’ve been set. Panic!
From my time in corporate sales, I know how nippy sales targets can be. You want to achieve the outcomes of selling more, helping more people and making more money that you’ll inevitably waste on the kids. But the targets bite you on the bum when it comes to actually achieving them.
You could throw everything and the kitchen sink at the problem including closing lines that make you dry heave. Let’s create a win-win instead. Reach your sales target without the stress of an overcomplicated (and let’s be honest manipulative) sales strategy. Here’s how…
1. Stop Trying
I don’t mean stop trying in life altogether. Although, the idea of giving up everything and joining the old guys who hang out at Spoons from 9 am has been very appealing at times. The problem is what you do matters too much. You can’t stop helping people. That’s why you do what you do.
What I mean is stop trying to sell. It only gets you wound up and sweaty. Who would want to buy from a tense, sweaty person forcing themselves through a cringe-y sales script that immediately triggers alarm bells of “You’re being manipulated”? No one needs that.
Here’s where a solid sales training program can transform your approach. Imagine not needing to sell in the traditional sense to make sales—just helping prospects make an informed decision about whether to work with you. That’s the beauty of a well-designed sales training program; it calms your heart rate and teaches you that it’s all about guiding prospects, not pushing them.
2. Plan It to Death
One of the worst parts of sales is not knowing what to say. “How do I respond to this? What if they say that? Do I sound weird?” It causes so much stress that it’s almost inevitable you’ll mess up and lose the client.
Compare that to knowing exactly what to say no matter where the conversation goes, all thanks to a robust sales training program. A great sales training program provides you with a structured conversation plan, making it second nature. Practice your sales conversation plan so that it becomes as routine as going for a tinkle—just don’t mix up the two!
The more comfortable you feel, the more comfortable your prospect will feel. Confidence is contagious, and it’s what a great sales training program delivers: control over the conversation without taking away any power from the potential client.
3. Explain Their Problem to Them
One of the biggest misconceptions about selling is assuming that people already know how bad their problem is and are motivated to solve it. Sometimes they are, but often they aren’t fully aware of how much your service can improve their situation.
A solid sales training program will teach you how to investigate their pain points, the time wasted, and the money lost without overwhelming them. Through the right questions and approach, your sales training program equips you to reveal the reality of their situation—helping them realize the value of your solution.
4. Help Them Justify the Purchase
Most people don’t have money to throw around, so they spend on things they truly value. Instead of leaving prospects to figure out the worth of your services on their own, a sales training program teaches you to guide them through it.
With a sales training program, you can show prospects the impact your service will have on their goals, whether it’s money saved, time gained, or any other measure of success. A quality sales training program prepares you to answer the “is it worth it?” question clearly and confidently.
5. Let Them Lead the Way
Ever ended a call feeling like someone tried to sell you a load of nonsense? It’s easy to spot when someone’s pushing rather than listening.
A sales training program trains you to let the prospect take the lead by asking them about their unique situation, allowing you to interpret and give realistic outcomes. For example:
You: How much time do you usually spend on this task?
Them: About 10 hours a month.
You: If I were to do it for you and save you 10 hours a month, how many of those hours would you spend on the business?
Them: Around 6 hours.
You: And how much do you charge per hour again?
Them: £100 an hour.
You: So you could be making an extra £600 a month while only paying me £250!
A good sales training program equips you to handle these conversations smoothly, allowing the prospect to feel fully in control and making the value crystal clear.
Next Steps
If you’re serious about hitting your 2024 sales target, investing in a proven sales training program could be the game-changer you need. A sales training program like this not only helps you build confidence but also empowers you to guide prospects effectively, increasing your conversion rates while reducing pressure on both sides.
I could go on but then I’d be giving away my whole sales conversations course! In summary:
-
- Stop trying to sell because we’re not good at the things we don’t like doing
-
- Have a script you are comfortable using with prospects and learn it by heart
-
- Make sure to establish your prospect has a problem before offering them a solution
-
- Don’t leave it to them to figure out if your services are worth it
-
- Use information from the prospect to draw conclusions to make it real.
