Whether you're an engineer, manufacturer, accountant, financial adviser, mortgage adviser, insurance broker, education provider, marketing agency, IT company, SaaS business, consultant, coach, web designer, copywriter or another service business, the same consultative selling, discovery call, objection handling and value communication principles improve Leicester sales meetings across every industry.
In 1998, I graduated from Nottingham University with a Maths degree, no sales experience and absolutely no confidence in selling.
A Christmas temp job in a phone shop changed everything. Instead of learning traditional sales techniques, I became obsessed with one question:
How do I make it easy for customers to buy?
That simple idea helped me become the UK's top phone seller in that chain and launched a 26 year career in sales, sales training and business development.
Today, I deliver sales training Via Zoom or face-to-face in Leicester, helping business owners and sales teams improve sales conversations, close more deals, upsell with ease and confidently charge more through clearer communication and better buying decisions.
Ian has worked in professional sales since 1998 and brings more than 26 years of real sales experience to every Leicester sales training session. He was trained in sales with Vodafone, held senior sales roles with Ideal Boilers and Hepworth Building Products, and later progressed to Sales Director.
As a salesman, Ian has helped grow sales by more than £40 million using the same clarity-first approach he now teaches to Leicester business owners, SMEs and sales teams. Since moving into sales training, he has helped more than 300 businesses improve sales conversations, communicate value more clearly and increase conversions. The most common goals are improving discovery calls, communicating value more clearly, increasing conversion rates and helping prospects make confident buying decisions.
His sales training courses in Leicester focus on clearer sales communication, stronger value conversations, consultative selling and helping clients make confident buying decisions without pressure or scripts.

Common questions about Leicester sales training.
Yes. In fact, many of the Leicester business owners and sales professionals I work with tell me exactly that before we begin. Whether they're running a professional practice in Leicester city centre, a manufacturing business near Meridian Business Park, a technology company around Grove Park or a marketing agency close to St George's Cultural Quarter, they often feel uncomfortable talking about fees, promoting their expertise or asking clients to make a decision. Sales training without pressure takes a completely different approach. Instead of teaching scripts, manipulation or high-pressure closing techniques, it focuses on making your message clearer, your value easier to understand and your conversations feel more natural. When clients understand what you do and why it matters, selling stops feeling like selling and starts feeling like helping people make better buying decisions.
When prospects understand your value, they become far more confident choosing you. That means you do not have to push people towards a sale or rely on uncomfortable closing techniques. Whether you're meeting clients near the King Power Stadium, Highcross, New Walk or the University of Leicester, the same buying psychology applies. People make decisions more easily when they clearly understand the problem you solve, the outcomes you deliver and why your approach is different. Whether you're a business owner, consultant, financial adviser, mortgage broker, insurance broker or part of a Leicester sales team, the aim is always the same: helping buyers make confident decisions through clearer communication, stronger value conversations and practical buyer psychology rather than pressure.
Sales training without pressure means helping people buy rather than trying to make them buy. Traditional sales training courses often focus on overcoming objections, closing techniques and persuasion. My approach starts much earlier by reducing confusion. When people fully understand your service, the problem it solves and why it is valuable, they become far more comfortable making a decision. That changes the entire conversation. Instead of feeling like you are convincing someone, you are helping them reach the right conclusion. This approach works particularly well for businesses across Leicester, where buyers are often comparing several suppliers before making a decision. Whether you're meeting clients in the Professional Quarter, around Highcross or close to Leicester Railway Station, clearer communication builds confidence far more effectively than pressure ever could.
This approach combines buyer psychology, consultative selling and clearer communication to improve sales conversations. It works because people naturally prefer making informed decisions rather than feeling persuaded. The result is a more enjoyable sales process for both you and your clients, together with stronger relationships, higher trust and better long-term business. Businesses across Leicester, from Oadby and Wigston to Braunstone and Glenfield, often discover that removing confusion leads to fewer "I'll think about it" conversations and more confident buying decisions. Rather than teaching you how to become a more persuasive salesperson, the training helps you become a clearer communicator, making it easier for clients to understand your value and decide whether you're the right choice.
Yes. One of the biggest reasons businesses reduce their prices is because prospects do not fully understand the value they are receiving. When your message lacks clarity, buyers naturally compare fees instead of outcomes. During the sales training, we focus on communicating value in a way that makes sense to your ideal clients. You will learn how to explain your expertise, your process and the results you deliver without sounding salesy or arrogant. For many Leicester businesses, particularly those based around Meridian Business Park, Grove Park and Leicester city centre, standing out is rarely about being the cheapest. It is about helping buyers understand why your expertise delivers better results than seemingly similar alternatives.
As prospects gain confidence in what you offer, price becomes only one part of the decision instead of the deciding factor. While nobody can guarantee higher prices, many clients find they become more comfortable discussing fees, recommending premium services and avoiding unnecessary discounts because their sales conversations become clearer, more structured and easier for buyers to understand. Whether you're presenting to clients near the King Power Stadium, De Montfort University or around Highcross, the principles remain exactly the same. When buyers clearly understand your value before they compare prices, conversations become less about cost and more about the outcome you can help them achieve.
No ethical sales trainer can promise specific conversion rates because every business, market and sales process is different. What I can do is help you remove many of the reasons prospects delay making a decision. Better sales conversations usually lead to better business results. By simplifying your message, improving your discovery conversations and communicating value more clearly, prospects understand your offer more quickly and have greater confidence in choosing you. That's particularly valuable in Leicester, where buyers often evaluate several providers before making a decision. Whether you're speaking with clients in Oadby, Enderby or around Leicester Royal Infirmary, helping people understand your value before they compare alternatives can significantly improve the quality of your conversations.
Many clients report fewer "I'll think about it" conversations, less ghosting and more committed buyers after applying what they learn. The focus is never on pressure or manipulation. Instead, it is about making buying feel easier. That often improves conversion rates because clients understand exactly what they are buying, why it matters and why your solution is the right fit for their needs. Across Leicester, from Clarendon Park and Evington to Birstall and Blaby, businesses often discover that clearer communication creates more confident buyers and more consistent sales results without changing who they are or how they naturally communicate.
Yes. The principles work equally well whether you are a business owner selling your own expertise or leading an experienced sales team. Business owners often want more confidence discussing their services, while sales teams usually want greater consistency and stronger conversion rates. The training is adapted to your goals, your clients and the way your business sells. Whether your team works from offices in Leicester city centre, Meridian Business Park, Grove Park or around Abbey Park, the challenges are often remarkably similar. Buyers want clarity, confidence and a compelling reason to choose you over the many alternatives available across Leicester.
Everyone learns the same core principles of buyer psychology, consultative selling, value communication and clearer sales conversations, but the examples and exercises are tailored to your environment. Because the focus is on helping buyers make better decisions rather than using scripted techniques, the training is relevant across a wide range of industries and experience levels. It provides practical ideas that can be applied immediately in meetings, discovery calls, presentations and everyday client conversations. Whether your team sells locally across Leicestershire or works with clients throughout the UK, the aim is to create more consistent conversations, stronger value communication and buyers who feel confident saying "yes" rather than "I'll think about it".
I have worked with businesses across financial services, manufacturing, engineering, IT, cybersecurity, SaaS, marketing, legal services, construction, education, recruitment, hospitality and many other sectors. Although every industry has different products, regulations and buying cycles, people make purchasing decisions in remarkably similar ways. They want clarity, confidence and a compelling reason to choose you. That is why the principles taught during the training work across such a wide range of businesses. From financial firms around New Walk and legal practices near Leicester Crown Court to technology companies at Meridian Business Park and creative agencies in the Cultural Quarter, the goal is always to make your value easier for buyers to understand.
Rather than relying on industry-specific scripts, the training focuses on buyer psychology, improving communication and making complex services easier to understand. Every programme is tailored with examples relevant to your business so the ideas feel practical from day one. Whether you are based near the King Power Stadium, the National Space Centre or the University of Leicester, your clients still want to understand why your solution is right for them before they commit. The aim is always the same: clearer conversations, stronger value communication and helping clients make confident buying decisions without relying on pressure, gimmicks or traditional sales techniques.
This is highly practical sales training built around real business conversations rather than classroom theory. Every session is designed to give you ideas that you can use immediately with prospects and existing clients. Instead of spending hours discussing sales models or memorising scripts, we work on simplifying your message, improving your questions, explaining value more clearly and making buying decisions easier. Whether you're speaking to clients in person around Leicester city centre, presenting at offices in Grove Park or running virtual meetings with teams across Leicestershire, the focus is always on techniques you can apply in the real world rather than concepts that stay in a training manual.
You'll receive practical frameworks, examples and feedback that relate directly to your own business. Many people use what they learn in their very next client meeting or discovery call. The buyer psychology behind the training is important, but it is always explained in a straightforward, practical way that helps you put it into action immediately. Whether your business is based in Oadby, Hinckley, Loughborough or close to Highcross, the objective remains exactly the same: achieving clearer conversations, stronger value communication and better commercial results through practical improvements that your team can start using from day one.
Absolutely. Every business has different services, different clients and different sales conversations, so the training is always tailored to your needs. Before we begin, we discuss your goals, your sales process and the challenges your team faces. That might involve explaining complex services, improving discovery calls, communicating value, handling pricing conversations or increasing conversion rates. Whether you're a recruitment company in Leicester city centre, an accountancy practice near New Walk, a technology business at Grove Park or a consultancy in Clarendon Park, the examples and coaching are adapted to reflect the way your business actually sells rather than relying on generic case studies.
The core principles remain consistent, but the exercises, discussions and practical coaching are built around your own products, services and customer conversations. This makes the training immediately relevant and much easier to apply. Rather than delivering off-the-shelf material, we focus on the situations your team deals with every day, helping them improve communication without changing who they are. Whether your clients are across Leicestershire or throughout the UK, the objective is always the same: clearer conversations, stronger value communication and a sales process that feels more natural for both your team and your customers.
Yes. Sales training is available both online and face to face across Leicester and the rest of the UK. Live online sales training is delivered using Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, making it ideal for businesses with hybrid, remote or multi-site teams. Face-to-face sales training workshops can be delivered at your offices, whether you're based in Leicester city centre, Meridian Business Park, Grove Park or near Leicester Railway Station. Whichever format you choose, the content remains highly interactive, practical and centred around your own sales conversations rather than generic presentations or role play for the sake of it.
Online sales training includes discussion, coaching, practical exercises and live feedback, ensuring your team stays fully engaged throughout. Face-to-face sales training workshops provide additional opportunities for group collaboration, coaching and team discussion, making them ideal for organisations wanting to build a consistent sales approach across the business. Whether your team is spread across Leicestershire or works from a single office near the King Power Stadium, Abbey Park, the University of Leicester or Oadby, the goal remains exactly the same: improving sales conversations, communicating value more clearly and helping buyers make confident decisions without relying on pressure or outdated sales techniques.
Most people begin using the ideas immediately. The training is designed around practical improvements that can be introduced into your very next client meeting, discovery call or presentation. Rather than asking you to completely change your sales process, we focus on refining the conversations you already have. Small improvements in clarity, questioning and value communication often make a noticeable difference very quickly. That's especially valuable in Leicester, where buyers are often comparing several providers before making a decision. Whether you're meeting prospects in Leicester city centre, presenting near the King Power Stadium or visiting clients around Meridian Business Park, clearer communication can have an immediate impact.
Because the training is built around real situations from your business, the examples feel relevant rather than theoretical. Many clients tell me they notice better conversations within days because they communicate with greater confidence, explain their value more clearly and make it easier for buyers to understand the benefits of working with them. Whether your business serves customers across Leicestershire or further afield, the long-term improvements come through continued practice, but there are always practical ideas you can apply straight away to reduce hesitation, strengthen buyer confidence and improve the quality of your sales conversations.
Experienced salespeople often gain just as much from the training as those who are new to selling. Many successful sales professionals develop habits over time that work well but could work even better with a few refinements. The focus is not on replacing what your team already does well or teaching basic sales techniques. Instead, we concentrate on improving communication, simplifying complex messages and understanding how buyers make decisions. That's particularly valuable for experienced sales teams across Leicester, where buyers are often well-informed, time-poor and comparing several suppliers before committing. Whether you're based in Leicester city centre, Oadby, Enderby or around Grove Park, clearer conversations can give your team a genuine competitive advantage.
Experienced teams often discover new ways to explain value, ask stronger questions and reduce unnecessary hesitation during conversations. Because the training is tailored to your business, it builds on your existing strengths instead of starting from scratch. Every exercise, discussion and example is designed around the way your team already sells, making improvements practical and easy to implement. Whether your salespeople work from offices near Highcross, Meridian Business Park, Braunstone or Clarendon Park, the objective is continuous improvement rather than wholesale change. The result is a more consistent sales approach, greater confidence when discussing value and better buying experiences that encourage clients to make informed decisions without feeling pressured.
The cost depends on the type of support you need, whether that is one-to-one coaching, group workshops or a bespoke programme for your organisation. Rather than recommending a package before understanding your business, I prefer discussing your goals first. That allows me to recommend the most appropriate option instead of selling something you do not need. Every Leicester business is different. A growing technology company at Grove Park may have very different challenges from an established professional practice in Leicester city centre or a sales team based at Meridian Business Park. Tailoring the training ensures you invest in support that addresses your specific objectives rather than paying for content that is unlikely to add value.
The more important question is often the return on that investment. If clearer conversations help you win additional clients, improve conversion rates, reduce unnecessary discounting or increase the value of the services your clients choose, the training can deliver a return far beyond its initial cost. Whether you're meeting prospects near New Walk, the King Power Stadium, Highcross or Leicester Royal Infirmary, helping buyers understand your value more clearly often changes the quality of the conversations that follow. There is never any pressure to proceed. The aim is simply to help you decide whether the training is the right fit for your business, your team and the results you want to achieve.
Sales training in Leicester should do more than teach scripts. It should help business owners, advisers, consultants and sales teams explain value clearly, handle hesitation with confidence and turn more I'll think about it conversations into committed clients. If you are looking for sales training Leicester, Leicester sales training or sales training near me, the real question is whether the training will improve the conversations your prospects are already having with you.
Many local businesses around Leicester now sell through a mix of face-to-face meetings, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. Whether your prospects are based near London Road, Welford Road, Narborough Road, Melton Road, Highcross Leicester or Leicester train station, unclear messages still make people delay decisions. Sales skills training in Leicester helps your team structure conversations, ask better questions, explain recommendations and keep prospects focused on value instead of price alone.
For smaller businesses, sales coaching in Leicester can be a practical way to improve confidence without committing to a large programme. For growing teams, corporate sales training in Leicester gives everyone the same language, process and approach. For service businesses selling to other companies, B2B sales training in Leicester helps teams communicate risk, outcomes, trust and decision criteria more clearly.
The training can be delivered live online or in person for businesses in and around Leicester. That means it can work as a sales workshop in Leicester, an in-person sales training day, a live online sales session, a series of sales workshops or a focused programme delivered for your team. It is also useful for people who have tried generic sales training webinars but need something more practical and personal.
Sales coaching, team sales training and local sales development training are especially useful when the issue is not product knowledge, but the way the offer is explained. If prospects do not understand your value quickly, they delay, compare, ask for a discount or disappear. Sales development training in Leicester helps you improve the full conversation, from first interest to next steps.
Leicester is well placed for businesses across Leicestershire and nearby areas such as Oadby, Wigston, Evington, Clarendon Park, Braunstone, Glenfield, Hamilton, Knighton and Stoneygate. With links from the A6, A47, A50, A563, M1 and M69, in-person sales training in Leicester can be practical for local teams, while online sales training gives the same support without travel, hotel costs or lost time away from the business.
Sales training for Leicester businesses works best when it is interactive. The session can include live coaching, discussion, examples from your own business and practical exercises. Whether it is delivered at your premises, near Leicester city centre, close to the King Power Stadium, around Curve Theatre or online, the aim is to practise the exact conversations your team needs to improve.
The content can be shaped around professional sales training, sales communication training, value-based selling, consultative sales training, objection handling, closing conversations and buyer psychology. The point is not to memorise clever lines. The point is to make your message easier to understand, build decision confidence and make your service easier to buy.
Sales training for teams in Leicester works well when several people need a shared approach. Business sales training in Leicester helps owners, managers and teams stop relying on individual style alone and start using a clearer process for explaining value, answering concerns and helping prospects decide.
Whether you are looking for sales courses for professionals, sales training for businesses or local sales training in Leicester that feels practical rather than pushy, the goal stays the same: better conversations, clearer value, greater client confidence and more sales without pressure tactics.

I did Ian Genius’s Turbocharge Your Sales training, and what I can say is that the training is absolutely incredible. It’s very easy to understand and very easy to apply. It’s really fun, interactive, and straight to the point. He helps you nail your message in a way that cuts out all the noise and gets straight to what you should actually be saying to your potential clients. So if you don’t know how to present yourself, or you feel that the way you’re presenting yourself probably isn’t working but you don’t know how else to do it, then definitely speak to Ian Genius.Posted on Google![]()

It's always a delight speaking with Ian as, invariably, he always leaves you with some excellent nuggets of wisdom. Having recently pivoted my business offering, I knew that I needed to speak to Ian, to refine my networking pitch. Within minutes I had something I was really chuffed with, all thanks to Ian.Posted on Google![]()

Sales is one of those things, it’s a tricky one isn’t it? businesses don't like talking about money, they don't like selling, they don't want to be pushy. After just one hour with Ian, everything changed. He explained how we could market ourselves by introducing VALUE to our clients. And the way he explained it was so simple, that it suddenly clicked in our minds and managed to get six new clients off the back of just one hour with Ian. Ian has given us clarity of our value. Thank you IanPosted on Google![]()

I already knew Ian was talented because of the engaging content he publishes. However, it was only after spending time in a training session with him that I truly understood how valuable he is to my business. If you are struggling to achieve the sales figures you want – or if you find yourself being "ghosted" by prospects as soon as you have sent a quote – you need to speak to him. The value here goes beyond simple clarity. There is no "tricksy" sales nonsense involved. Instead, Ian provides logical, straightforward frameworks that are incredibly easy to follow. It is no exaggeration to say that the training I did with Ian revolutionised my approach. I have been in business and involved in sales for a long time, and I only wish I had met him when I first started. It would have saved me a great deal of heartache and frustration.Posted on Google![]()

“From first meeting Ian at a network event I knew he was someone that I would enjoy working with. His passion and knowledge of his subject is infectious. I’ve had numerous sessions with Ian regarding the topic of Sales and found Ian to be very empathetic on this issues of selling and how to approach an often difficult subject. The concept of explaining issues as a choice: 6 year old easy or really difficult is brilliantly effective and really helps demonstrate how important it is to make the “selling simple” Ian clearly has many real world experiences that he draws on anecdotally to explain his concepts. He uses humour appropriately to help deliver his sessions. His videos on LinkedIn whilst being humorous are very cleverly put together and really engaging in to the issues of selling - Ian clearly has a knack of making the concepts enjoyable I would wholeheartedly recommend Ian as someone to work with if you want to demystify the concept of sales and how you can improve your techniques for engaging with customers.” I'd like to add that Ian has continued to be a source of support with Sales and it cannot be over emphasised the importance of simplifying concepts for people and how effective that is when dealing with customers, something that Ian excels at.Posted on Google![]()

Ian’s review of our prospect meetings was immediate and transformative. He showed us exactly how to simplify our approach and cut the jargon, which directly led to a massive increase in effectiveness. Since implementing his advice, we've had a 100% success rate, signing every prospect seen. A highly valuable consultation.Posted on Google![]()

I have been using Ian as a Sales Coach for two months now. I have always been able to convert prospects who come via a warm referral, but I have struggled to convert cold prospects that come through marketing efforts. I started by booking one of his value hour sessions, and I then decided to book his twelve-week course. If you are a financial advisor (pensions, investments, mortgages, etc.), then Ian is definitely for you. Ian, as he loves to remind you, has a degree in mathematics (only joking Ian!). He understands number-based concepts extremely well, he also teaches you how to communicate numbers to people in a simple way. As he says, confused people don't buy. Ian also works very hard to understand the value of your particular service or product. The more you give Ian in terms of what you do, how you do it, and why you do it, the more he helps you. After 9 weeks, I am starting to see more conversions and better relationships. Also, my confidence has increased.Posted on Google![]()

I have worked with Ian on many occasions, and attended his 1-2-1 and group training sessions, both of which I will continue to do as my business evolves. Ian has completely changed my approach to selling. His message is straightforward, no jargon, no complicated language. He has taught me the benefit of keeping things simple, and it has been beneficial to me in respect of the confidence to persuade people to buy what I offer rather than sell to them. I highly recommend Ian - he provides great advice, it's cost-effective, and it provides value no matter what size of business you represent.Posted on Google![]()

I am near completion on Ian's Effective Sales Conversations course, in fact we should be finished however Ian felt that he needed to give me a few more sessions to ensure I'm comfortable. I'm not exaggerating when I say it’s transformed how I approach my pitch and my approach to new business development. Before the course, my pitch often felt like a price list with a bit of polish. Now, it's a clear, confident explanation of the value I bring, without the fluff or the hard sell. Ian's given me a simple, practical framework (bespoke to my business ) that’s helped me cut through the noise and speak directly to what matters to potential clients. This training didn’t just improve my pitch, it made it land. If you’re tired of being seen as “just another option” and want to stand out for the right reasons, I’d absolutely recommend working with Ian, he's a genius (excuse the pun). Thank you so much Ian 🙏
